Developing Racquet-head Speed with the Help of Contrast Drills

Accelerating the racquet-head correctly  is one of the most important skills in competitive tennis. The speed of the racquet will ultimately determine the speed of the ball, the spin amount and consequently the control over the shot.  There are several exercises that coaches can use to teach players how to swing faster but contrast drills have to be part of the equation.  In contrast drills players swing a lighter object followed by a heavier object at maximum speed or vice versa to ultimately train the muscles into swinging faster than before.
